Five Stages of Retirement Accommodation
The five stages will give you and your spouse, as well as your family, peace of mind when you settle into your home at the Rob Roy Retirement Lifestyle Village. It may not be necessary to use all five stages but it is comforting to know that they are available without having to relocate. It is always extremely stressful to pack up and move especially after the loss of a loved one or as a result of a debilitating illness.
The five stages of accommodation cover the progression from independent living through interdependent living to dependent living. There is no stigma attached to the fact that a resident through illness or frailty, may have to make use of two, three or all five stages. It is a fact of life that we are ageing and that there will come a time when we will need assistance.
The accommodation is also supported by the full range of services that are required to provide the resident with a quality of life in comfortable and friendly surroundings. No expense will be spared to provide accommodation and services to meet the high standard expected by our residents.
The assisted living programme offered to residents in their apartments is a daily service, with emphasis on bathing, dressing, eating, medication, taking part in social activities and domestic help to name a few.
In addition, for your peace of mind, all the cottages and apartments have direct access to an emergency response that will provide fire, medical and in the case of the cottages, intrusion response aswell.
The five stages of retirement accommodation are listed below.
Stage 1: Independent living Residents enjoy totally independent living conditions where they are free to choose their lifestyle without extra support. A home care service is however available to residents whereby day or night caring assistance is provided during a period of illness or on an ongoing basis. The cost of the home care depends upon the range of care or service that is required.
Stage 2: Interdependent living Residents are offered a choice of an independent or interdependent lifestyle where they can chose to have their meals in the Duke of Montrose resident’s dining room for an additional charge or to self cater. Daily cleaning, bed making, dish washing and laundry services are offered at a reasonable cost.
Stage 3: Interdependent assisted living Residents are provided with general assistance, for example, medication, regular checks during the day and night. Also domestic help as per Stage 2.
Stage 4: Interdependent semi-care living Residents are provided with comprehensive assistance e.g.: getting into and out of bed, bathing, showering, dressing/undressing. Nursing staff visit these residents during the day and night. Also domestic help as per Stage 2.
Stage 5: Dependent living The twenty two bed Rob Roy Care Centre provides twenty four hour a day care for residents and caters for all needs i.e. nursing, meals, laundry, bed assistance, showering, dressing/undressing. The Care Centre has four trained sisters and one carer per four residents in occupation.
